Michell Jennys Challah

This our family favorite. The recipe was a gift from my best friend.

INGRIDIENT

DIRECTION

Step: 1

Place water, salt, honey, eggs, melted butter or margarine, flour, and yeast in order given into the bread machine. Set the machine to Dough cycle, and start.

Step: 2

Remove dough from the machine after first rising. Divide dough into three or four equal pieces. Braid the pieces, and tuck the ends under; pinch to seal. Place on a greased baking tray. This bread can also be made in a 9 x 5 inch greased loaf pan. Allow to rise until doubled in size.

Step: 3

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Step: 4

Bake in preheated oven until the crust is a deep golden brown, about 35 to 45 minutes.

The best flavour of the flour could make a real deal to your bread. Different brands do vary. Great taste or Canadian flours, which are bet higher in gluten, may give you a best rise than standard dough flours – especially if you’re make wholemeal dough , which not always rise as well as white bread.

To make this in a breadmaker , add all the ingredients to your breadmaker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

A bread first rising can be done in the fridge overnight . This slows down the time it takes to rise to double its size, giving it a deeper flavour. It’s also a great timesaver , as you can start it night before , then clear it off the next day.
