Luscious Raspberry Scones

Make these tender and delicious scones for a special Sunday brunch.

Step: 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.

Step: 2

In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and baking powder. Mix in butter and raspberry syrup. Add buttermilk and cream; mix just until moistened. Fold in raspberries. Form into an oblong loaf and place on a baking sheet.

Step: 3

Bake in preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and cut loaf into 6 wedge shaped pieces. Place pieces on baking sheet and continue baking for 15 minutes, until golden.

The best flavour of the flour can make a real difference to your bread. Different brands do vary. Great taste or Canadian flours, which are naturally higher in gluten, may give you a best rise than standard dough flours – especially if you’re making wholemeal dough , which not always getting bigger as well as white bread.

To make this in a dough , add all the menus to your breadmaker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

A bread first rising can be make in the fridge 24 hours . This slows down the time it takes to rise to double its size, giving it a deeper flavour. It’s also a great limit , as you can work it yesterday , then finish it off the next day.
