Jemput Jumput (Banana Fritters)

A traditional Indonesian banana fritter recipe. These fritters are delicious.



Step: 1

Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy bottomed pan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Step: 2

Sift the flour, salt, and baking powder into a medium bowl.

Step: 3

In a separate bowl, mash together the bananas and sugar. Gradually mix flour mixture into mashed bananas, stirring until well combined.

Step: 4

Drop batter by spoonfuls into hot oil, and cook, turning once, until browned, 2 to 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

The quality of the flour could make a real deal to your bread. Different makers do vary. Extra-strong or Canadian flours, which are naturally higher in gluten, may give you a better rise than standard bread flours – especially if you’re make wholemeal bread , which doesn’t always rise as well as clear bread.

To make this in a dough , add all the ingredients to your breadmaker and follow the makers instructions.

A dough’s first rising can be make in the fridge overnight . This slows down the time it takes to rise to double its size, giving it a deeper flavour. It’s also a great limit , as you can work it yesterday , then clear it off the next day.
