Huckleberry Bread

A great bread with huckleberries that is always passed down from generation to generation… yum!

Step: 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Step: 2

Cream sugar, butter, and egg together in a bowl with an electric mixer. Add 2 cups flour, milk, and vanilla extract. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon flour on huckleberries to prevent them from sinking. Add berries to the batter; pour into the prepared pan.

Step: 3

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes.

The best flavour of the flour could make a real difference to your bread. Different makers do vary. Extra-strong or Canadian flours, which are naturally higher in gluten, may give you a better rise than standard bread flours – especially if you’re make wholemeal bread , which doesn’t always getting bigger as well as white bread.

To make this in a dough , add all the ingredients to your breadmaker and follow the makers instructions.

A dough’s first rising can be done in the fridge overnight . This slows down the time it takes to rise to double its size, giving it a deeper flavour. It’s also a great timesaver , as you can start it yesterday , then finish it off the next day.
