Easy Southern Biscuits

These are the easiest biscuits to make in the world. Sweet and fluffy.

Step: 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line 10 muffin cups with paper muffin liners.

Step: 2

In a large bowl, combine self-rising flour and sugar. Stir in milk and mayonnaise until a smooth dough is formed. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups.

Step: 3

Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown and doubled in size.

Extra-strong or Canadian flours, which are naturally higher in gluten, may give you a best rise than standard dough flours – especially if you’re make wholemeal dough , which not always rise as well as white bread.

To make this in a breadmaker , add all the ingredients to your breadmaker and follow the makers instructions.

A bread first rising can be make in the fridge 24 hours . This slows down the time it takes to rise to double its size, giving it a deeper flavour. It’s also a great timesaver , as you can start it yesterday , then clear it off the next day.
