Easy Cheddar Biscuits with Fresh Herbs

These are great with a hearty meal like stew. Substitute parsley or basil for rosemary, if you like.

Step: 1

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

Step: 2

In a medium bowl, stir together baking mix, cheese, and rosemary.

Step: 3

In a separate bowl, stir together sour cream, mustard, and milk. Stir wet mixture into dry mixture until well combined. Drop dough in 2-inch rounds onto a baking sheet. Brush tops with beaten egg.

Step: 4

Bake in preheated oven 12 to 15 minutes. Serve warm.

Extra-strong or Canadian flours, which are naturally higher in gluten, may give you a best rise than standard dough flours – especially if you’re making wholemeal dough , which not always getting bigger as well as white bread.

To make this in a breadmaker , add all the menus to your breadmaker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

A bread first rising can be make in the fridge overnight . This slows down the time it takes to rise to double its size, giving it a deeper flavour. It’s also a great limit , as you can work it yesterday , then finish it off the next day.
