Banana Bread from Motts®

Add a new twist to an old favorite. The applesauce makes it a healthier option without sacrificing taste.



Step: 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray. In large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and allspice.

Step: 2

In medium bowl, whisk together bananas, sugar, applesauce, egg whites, oil and vanilla.

Step: 3

Bake 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Invert onto wire rack. Turn right side up. Cool completely.


Per Serving: 169 calories; protein 3g; carbohydrates 35.4g; fat 2g; sodium 229.4mg.

The best flavour of the flour could make a real deal to your bread. Different makers do vary. Extra-strong or Canadian flours, which are naturally higher in gluten, may give you a best rise than standard bread flours – especially if you’re make wholemeal dough , which not always rise as well as clear bread.

To made this in a dough , add all the menus to your breadmaker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

A dough’s first rising can be done in the fridge overnight . This slows down the time it takes to rise to double its size, giving it a deeper flavour. It’s also a great timesaver , as you can start it night before , then finish it off the next day.
