Amish Friendship Bread I

A sweet cinnamon bread that requires a batch of Amish Friendship Bread Starter. For variations, add your favorite fruits and/or nuts!

Step: 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease 2 (9x5 inch) loaf pans.

Step: 2

In a large bowl, combine the Amish bread starter with oil, eggs, 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well. Pour into prepared loaf pans.

Step: 3

Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes.

The quality of the flour can make a real deal to your bread. Different makers do vary. Extra-strong or Canadian flours, which are naturally higher in gluten, may give you a best rise than standard bread flours – especially if you’re making wholemeal bread , which not always getting bigger as well as clear bread.

To make this in a breadmaker , add all the menus to your breadmaker and follow the makers instructions.

A bread first rising can be make in the fridge 24 hours . This slows down the time it takes to rise to double its size, giving it a deeper flavour. It’s also a great timesaver , as you can start it yesterday , then clear it off the next day.
